Moisturizers 101: Choosing The Right One
One of the most important steps in a daily beauty regimen is moisturizer. However, many people that do not have dry skin do not think it is essential to use moisturizer. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The skin loses moisture at almost every turn. Some cosmetics can rob the skin of vital oils, and even some soaps and cleansers can strip away the skin’s natural moisture balance. Free radicals, harsh weather conditions, and even the sun’s rays can deplete the skin’s hydration. An oil-free moisturizer is critical to maintain the skin’s proper balance. Of course, simple aging of the skin can be caused simply by dehydration. By using a daily moisturizer, individuals can avoid many skin conditions.
Moisturizers come in many forms. The number one tip that consumers should keep in mind is that a moisturizer should always be oil-free. Products that contain oil can easily clog the pores and lead to unsightly blemishes, blackheads, and whiteheads. Skincare companies have developed several variations of moisturizers: gels, lotions, creams, mists, and serums. The specific type chosen depends primarily on an individual’s preferences. However, some creams can be too heavy for sensitive skin, while mists might not be enough moisture for severely dry skin.
For consumers that want to get more than just hydration out of their moisturizer, they should choose a product from a reputable company with dual or triple functions. Many moisturizers will contain an SPF for added protection from the sun, while some will also include an ingredient to fight blemishes or brighten the skin. A tinted moisturizer can also be purchased to provide subtle coverage in place of a foundation. Typically, an individual that uses a daily moisturizer will find that the signs of aging appear less and rough patches are often avoided as well.

What type of tinted moisturizer should I buy?
Hey I’m looking to try a tinted moisturizer for my skin, however I’m not sure what to buy. I don’t want to spend too much money and I have sensitive skin in a very pale tone. You should also know that I hate feeling like I’m wearing a lot of makeup or like I have oily skin and I strongly dislike the caked look. Right now I’ve been going with a light moisturizer followed by some mineral loose powder by Physicians Formula.
